Being bold

I'd like to share a poem I was recently given by a university tutor, in our last Counselling Skills seminar of the second year.

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy,
the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.

Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation)
there is one elementary truth...
that the moment one definitely commits oneself,
then Providence moves too.

All sorts of thing occur to help one that
would never otherwise have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decisions,
raising in one's favour all manner of unforeseen incidents
and meetings and material assistance,
which no-one could have dreamed would have come their way.

Whatever you can do,
or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius,
power and magic in it.

Everyone has something to give to the world. It was great to know that I am already being bold, and really challenging myself this year. As Walt Disney apparently said "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them". There is also something here about taking initiative, something I feel I have always lacked. Who else will make our dreams come true but ourselves? If we dare to dream, then we should dare to DO. My favourite quote from this...

Starting up a blog

Hey guys,

The main reasons I'm setting up a blog is because I will shortly be going to China for three weeks and I want to be able to share my experiences while I'm there with everyone back home!
