Starting up a blog

Hey guys,

The main reasons I'm setting up a blog is because I will shortly be going to China for three weeks and I want to be able to share my experiences while I'm there with everyone back home!

I worked to support children aged from 18 months to 10 years old in all aspects of their day at nursery. My duties also included serving and clearing away meals, some general organisation and maintenance and light secretarial work.

Park Guide
My main role was acting as a friendly, approachable and competent source of information about the Barbary Macaques for members of the general public visiting the park. My duties also included giving presentations, feeding the monkeys and general maintenance of the park.

I was excited to be accepted to volunteer at the new British Heart Foundation Shop. I enjoyed being part of the team and working hard to keep the shop tidy and organised, and the customers happy. As a member of paid staff, my role is to assist the Manager in the running of the shop and to act as Shop Manager in the Manager’s absence. My additional duties as paid staff include giving refunds, cashing up, and acting as supervisor to volunteers. I work Saturday and Sunday with a dedicated team of volunteers, and it is very enjoyable work.

I worked for Eton College with Chinese students on a 3 week Summer School Course. This involved ensuring the students in my care were on time for lectures and activities and accompanying them on expeditions to assist them in experiencing our culture and language.

My two years at Past Times involved explaining why you need to buy a Space Hopper, waiting for old ladies to find their glasses, straightening stock, cooing at babies and plotting to steal them.
